PZ19 Carburetor Diagram, Cable vs Hand Choke and Fitment Guide

PZ19 carburetors are common on small 4-stroke horizontal engines, but “PZ19” and engine displacement do not guarantee an exact fit. The biggest visible choice is often cable choke versus hand choke. Mounting dimensions, throttle cable, manifold angle and air-filter connection must also match.

Changing choke styles can create cable-routing or access problems. Matching the original style is usually the simplest installation.

Fitment checklist

  1. Confirm a compatible 4-stroke horizontal engine, commonly 50cc, 70cc, 90cc, 100cc, 110cc or 125cc.
  2. Measure the engine-side bore and mounting-bolt spacing.
  3. Compare throttle-cable end, cap threads and available cable travel.
  4. Compare the manifold angle and gasket outline.
  5. Confirm the fuel inlet and air-filter connection point in the correct direction.
  6. Choose cable choke or hand choke based on the original installation.

Known exclusions in these 1PZ applications

The matching 1PZ PZ19 kits are not listed for Honda XR70, XR70R, CRF70, XR80 or Z50, and are not listed for applicable CRF50/XR50 models before 2008. Always compare dimensions and the original carburetor rather than ordering by model name alone.

Safe setup sequence

  1. Work with a cool engine, close the fuel valve and disconnect the spark-plug lead.
  2. Photograph fuel hoses, vent hoses, throttle cable, choke connection and linkage before removal.
  3. Install clean, undamaged gaskets without blocking the intake passage.
  4. Confirm the throttle slide returns freely before starting.
  5. Open the fuel valve and inspect carefully for leaks. Do not start the engine until every leak is corrected.
  6. Use the engine manufacturer’s specification for mixture or idle adjustments; do not compensate for an intake leak by turning adjustment screws.
