PD24J Carburetor Diagram, Connections and Adjustment Guide

The PD24J is commonly used on compatible four-stroke GY6 125cc and 150cc engines, including engine families such as 152QMI, 152QMJ, 157QMI and 157QMJ. Similar-looking carburetors are not always interchangeable. Use this guide to identify the major connections and verify fitment before installation.

Measure your original component. Engine size, scooter brand or “GY6” wording alone is not enough to confirm compatibility.

Before adjustment

  1. Confirm mechanical fit, correct seals and unrestricted fuel flow.
  2. Check that the throttle returns fully and the cable has appropriate free play.
  3. Inspect for intake leaks, cracked hoses and blocked vents.
  4. Confirm the electric choke connection is correct.
  5. Start from the engine or equipment manufacturer’s specification when available.

Basic adjustment sequence

Warm the engine only after checking for fuel leaks. Set the idle speed just high enough for stable running. Make small mixture adjustments, pausing between changes so the engine can respond. If adjustment has little effect, stop and diagnose fuel level, jet blockage, intake leakage, valve condition or ignition problems rather than continuing to turn the screw.

Safety: Work in a ventilated area away from ignition sources. Turn off fuel and disconnect the battery or spark-plug lead before removal. Route overflow fuel away from hot surfaces.
